Getting to Fire Island Pines
Fire Island Pines is a car-free queer haven, accessible only by ferry, private charter, or water limo. Here are a few options for getting from New York City to the island with ease and style.
From New York City to Sayville Ferry Terminal
Option 1: Long Island Rail Road (LIRR)
Step 1:
Depart: Penn Station or Grand Central Madison
Arrive: Sayville Station (Montauk Branch)
Travel Time: ~1.5 hours
Frequent trains run to Sayville, but we recommend early departures to avoid crowds.
Sayville Station to Ferry Terminal:
A $6 shuttle (Colonial Transportation) runs back and forth between the train station and the Ferry Terminal. It takes you directly to the ferry terminal.
Option 2: Drive Yourself
Navigate to Sayville Ferry Terminal:
Public Parking Address: 41 River Rd, Sayville, NY 11782Paid public parking is available directly across from the ferry terminal.
Allow extra time during peak summer weekends — Long Island traffic can be brutal.
Option 3: Uber or Rideshare
Use 41 River Rd, Sayville, NY 11782 as your destination.
This address will drop you off directly at the ferry terminal.
Again, leave ample buffer time on summer weekends to avoid missing your ferry.
